"Paigow Poker"

Paigow Poker is a blend of the ancient Chinese game of Paigow and American Poker. The object of the game is to split seven randomly dealt cards into two poker hands (a five-card hand and a two-card hand) with both hands beating the dealer's two hands.

The Basics

Paigow Poker is played with a deck of 53 cards: a standard 52-card deck plus one Joker. The Joker is not a true wild card and has specific rules. The card only acts as a wild card to complete a straight or flush. Otherwise it is considered an Ace.

The game follows general poker ranking rules with the exception that, for straights and straight flushes, A-2-3-4-5 is the second-highest hand after A-K-Q-J-10. A hand with 6-5-4-3-2 becomes the lowest possible straight or straight flush.
